  It's worth making the trek up to Ghirardelli Square just to get some free chocolate samples. Another Ghirardelli shop opened on the other end of the square, so you can walk from one shop to the other and get two free samples now :) Plus, the shops always smell AMAZING. The chocolate is delicious too, though a little pricey, but it's worth it for a premium brand. Otherwise, there are some cute shops and restaurants in the Square, but it doesn't ever feel as "happening" as Fisherman's Wharf or Pier 39. It may be a little more upscale and thus may attract fewer people because there are fewer attractions. You can see great views of the Bay from the hill, though.

  I visit SF about once every 5 years. This is a tourist tap but there really isn't much here other than the sweets/ ice cream shop. I like it because is the original. Other than that you can purchase the same candies at CVS. fun to visit but nothing too special about this place. I still like Sees candies better.
